In the spirit of identifying the things you enjoy doing in your business and hiring others to help you with the other stuff, here is a list of some things I pulled together that you could delegate out to a VA or someone else to free up the time to do more of what you love!
1. Email. I am horrible at not getting sucked into this time warp and I don’t take the time I should to sort my email and prioritize. I waste a lot of time going through the easy ones when the money-making ones are where I should spend my time. Have your VA sort your email into folders so you can check what is important first and leave the rest for later.
2. Voicemail. At a certain time each day you could have your VA (or someone else) check your voicemail and call back everyone to get more information, book a time for you to meet, or simply let them know when you are able to get back to them. Providing an exceptional experience for your clients/prospects is so important to generate income you want and to make the sales!
3. Scheduling/Reminding/Rescheduling appointments with clients. Although you may have a calendar system to do this for you, it’s good to have the human connection to make sure your clients show up and on time so your time is not wasted.
4. Social media. You could write the posts yourself and then tell your VA the photo/image you are looking for and have them find the image and post the post when and where you want it to go. As time goes on, they may start to understand your voice well enough that they could write the post and you could simply review and tweak it as necessary.
5. Graphic design. I have the best designer on my team. He is so efficient and super good, why would I waste my time trying to make something look decent when he can do it 10x better in half the time?!
6. Copywriting. If I could hire a world-class copywriter for everything I write and send out, I would! And someday I will. In the meantime, for me, writing copy takes a lot of time. I would love to have someone else write what I need and have me tweak it to fit my voice!
7. Scheduling Broadcasts and Autoresponders. This could be one of those techy things that you just don’t want to do. There are people who love doing this and could probably do it less time than you could!
8. Finances and keeping track of where you spend your money and the ROI you are getting from it. If you do the work (or have someone else do it) you could eliminate some things that aren’t producing the income that you thought it was and spend more time on the things that do!
9. Housekeeper. I know this doesn’t sound like a business related activity, but you can leverage your time doing the things only you can do in your business and have your house cleaned at the same time. A total WIN!
10. Mommy’s helper. If you’re a mom with young kids like me, in the past I’ve hired younger homeschooled girls to watch my kids while I’m home working. I can pay them a bit less since I’m here if they need me and it gives them the experience and some extra cash in their pocket too!
11. Grocery-getter. One of my first clients started out with me getting his groceries! I started my first business in 2003 that got me connected to this wonderful online marketing world I now love. Make a list, have someone else go out and get what you need while you’re doing an intro session and closing a new client!
What else could be added to this list?
Awesome share, Jill! A lot of my clients who are just starting out don’t realize that there are people out there who love to do these types of tasks. A good goal to have is to be able to do only what you love!
